After running several new controversial ads relating to the Genius bar for the Olympics, Apple’s ad agency TBWA/Media/Arts Lab has now pulled the plug, claiming that they were only intended as a ‘first run’, Mashable reports.
However with the terrible reception they received (more dislikes than likes on YouTube and many prominent blogs rubbishing them), it seems more likely that it was a first and last run instead of just the former. I’d be surprised if we see these calamities on our screen anytime soon.
If you ask me Apple (or its ad agency) has slightly gone off the boil. Whether it be creating ads that are over simplistic or failed humor like this, I haven’t been that impressed.
I miss the days of the PC vs Mac features and the ad for the iMac G4, which has got to rank as one of Apple’s best ever. The PowerMac G4 ad is also up there, but this recent stuff Apple has been doing has been (for the most part), pretty bad.
