Maybe Apple shouldn’t mothball those new “Apple Genius” ads quite yet. They might want to produce a new one that shows just how helpful an Apple employee can really be, as a Louisville, KY Apple Store employee helped foil a kidnapping Saturday night.

This past Saturday night a woman in Louisville, KY was allegedly kidnapped by 32-year-old Victor A. Sarver, Jr. and forced at gunpoint to purchase numerous phones at her expense.
Upon arrival at the Apple Store, the woman was able to notify an Apple Store employee to her plight. The employee quickly alerted store security, who then contacted Louisville Metro Police, and Sarver was arrested by the authorities.
The woman said that she had met Sarver, who identified himself as “Greg”, a couple of weeks earlier, and he contacted her on Saturday to arrange a date.
Police said Sarver showed up at the woman’s house, pulled a gun on her, and forced her into her vehicle. He then demanded that she drive to several stores to purchase cell phones in her own name, with her money.
After several purchases, the pair wound up at the Apple Store in the Oxmoor Mall.
At some point during the visit, the woman had a chance to alert the store employee that she needed help.
Sarver is said to have changed his story multiple times, according to the arrest report. Police say they have obtained sworn statements from Apple Store employees, as well as screenshots of text messages between the victim and “Greg”.
Sarver was arrested and charged with kidnapping and robbery.
