After seeing a number of carriers and stores, including Sprint and Best Buy discount iPhones ahead of a possible ‘iPhone 5’, Apple has now sprung into action, apparently authorising its retail stores to price match selected offers, MacRumors reports.
Offers from Radio Shack and Target are also being matched, with the iPhone 4 8GB down (in theory) to $49.99 with contract in store, and all iPhone 4S models also down $49.
This is not confirmed in any way though, and it is unknown if this is something that has started yet in Apple Stores (and which ones), but it might be worth asking about if you are thinking of buying an iPhone from them.
The price match is only available in store and not online, but it’s still a good effort by Apple to try and get people to buy directly from them and not via a Sprint or Best Buy store.
