According to a new report from market research firm NPD, Apple has once again overtaken Samsung to become the largest U.S. smartphone maker, with 31% of the market. Samsung, on the other hand, holds 24 percent of the market.
The figures use data from the quarter ending in June 2012, and show that Samsung and Apple dominate the U.S. smartphone market in a serious way, making up over half of the market themselves. Sales for both combined smartphone makers also grew 43 percent, while other brands fell 16 percent.
Apple’s achievement here is especially remarkable considering that they come out on top offering only 3 smartphone models, while Samsung offers dozens. The entire report can be read over at NPD.
