Apple has seemingly added more built to order options for the Retina Macbook Pro, however they have been taken down and re added faster than I can even write this, so who knows what’s going on. As noted by MacRumors, the new options concern the low end $2199 model. Instead of being locked in to a 2.3Ghz processor, they can now bump it up to 2.7Ghz as well as increase the RAM and SSD storage.
Again though, it’s unclear as to whether this a mistake on Apple’s part or the real thing, as there have been mixed reports as to whether you can indeed buy a machine with the new custom specs. The page is showing up for some people (including us), but others are reportedly not seeing the new options.
Memory and SSD wise, you can increase it to 16GB and 768GB respectively, which is useful for people who don’t want to spend the money on the more expensive model and only want one spec boost.
Early adopters won’t be pleased, however – they had to upgrade to the $2800 model for get 16GB of RAM, which is now available as a $200 custom option…
We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on, because as of writing nothing is really confirmed.
