Ever since the Retina MacBook Pro (rMBP) was released, speculation began stirring about a 13-inch version of Apple’s Retina-licious notebook, and about a month ago, benchmarks began cropping up siggesting that Apple was testing one.
While much of the data presented to Geekbench by machines can be faked and many Hackintosh enthusiasts go to great lengths to match their machines’ details to those of actual Macs, the details of the MacBookPro10,2 were consistent enough with expectations that both we and Geekbench developer Primate Labs believed the entry to be genuine.
Similar benchmarks for the 15-inch rMBP surfaced within weeks of the machine actually being released at WWDC. It’s also worth noting that the machine is apparently running a pre-release version of OS X 10.8.1. The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro has been rumored for release in October.
