Following previous reports that Apple’s next iPhone is already in production, industry sources in Taiwan now reaffirm those claims, stating that production has begun at Pegatron, one of Apple’s Chinese manufacturing partners.
DigiTimes reports:
Pegatron has begun production of a new version of the Apple iPhone at its factory in Shanghai, eastern China, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
While the report does content with a recent report from BGR, which claims that the device is still being tested at Apple, it does agree with a report released by Macotakara earlier this month, as well as the timeframe previously reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Whether or not the iPhone is actually in full production, the timing does seem appropriate. Apple’s next iPhone is expected to feature a taller 4-inch screen, thinner design, and a two-tone metal rear casing, as well as a smaller dock connector, and LTE support, and is expected to launch sometime in October.
