Has Apple Dropped Development of Safari for Windows?

Alongside today’s release of OS X Mountain Lion, Apple also released Safari 6.0 for Mac. However, the Windows version of Safari didn’t see any update love. Actually, it disappeared from Apple’s site almost completely.

Cult of Mac:

Apple posted a page (which has since disappeared and now redirects here) detailing Safari 5.1.7 for Windows, even though this version of Safari was released back in May with OS X 10.7.4. As mentioned by MacRumors, Apple had previously listed Safari 5.1.7 for both Mac and Windows on the same page here.

A direct download is still available, but users are speculating that maybe Safari for Windows has been completely discontinued.

While Apple seems to have stopped development of Safari for Windows at the moment, it does look as if they will still be offering the download through the above link for the time being.

If you’re a user of Safari on Windows, it’s safe to say that you might want to look at other browsers. Chrome is an option, in its relatively short time on the market, its already passed Safari in the number of users.
