If you were to list out the first 5 musical instruments that came to mind, it’s pretty unlikely that the iPad would be on that list. Composer Ned McGowan, however, believes the iPad is indeed a stellar musical instrument – and he’s written a concerto featuring Apple’s popular tablet to prove it!
From McGowan’s personal website (via Apple Gazette):
I have recently finished composing a Concerto for the iPad and Orchestra.
Called Electronic Realms, it was premiered on the 1st of June by the Sinfonia Rotterdam, conducted by Conrad van Alphen with Keiko Shichijo as soloist.
The concerto was composed of three movements, and McGowan has even provided a 5-minute YouTube sample of the concerto, featuring clips from all three! If you’re wondering what on earth a “concerto for iPad and Orchestra” might sound like, check out the full clip embedded above!
