Options have typically been limited for those who wish to record what’s being displayed on their iOS device, with most solutions requiring a jailbreak. One previously jailbreak-only app has just appeared in the App Store to make this a possibility.
The app, first noticed by JBN, is fittingly named Display Recorder, and makes it easy to screen record your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in real time, and then sync those videos with your Mac or post them to YouTube. Even better, the app only costs $1.99 (link)! Unfortunately, 9to5Mac reports that the app appears to have “borrowed” its name from the Cydia Store version, and is made by a separate developer.
While apps like Reflection allow you to record the screen of your iOS device using a Mac, the ability to capture directly from your iOS device will be a great convenience to many users. The app even incorporates features such as microphone audio capture (to narrate your recordings), and the ability to adjust the video orientation between portrait and landscape.
It’s unclear how long this app will remain on the App Store, as it’s likely that it merely slipped past Apple’s radar, so those interested would be encouraged to snap this up sooner rather than later ($1.99, App Store link)!
