Apple To Demand Larger iOS App Icons From July

Apple has sent an email out to developers informing them that from July onwards, all iOS app submissions will have to feature icons measuring 1024 by 1024, quadruple the current size of 512 by 512, MacGeneration reports.

This is an interesting move, but an understandable one. 1024 by 1024 icons have already been present in Lion for several months, and it’s only logical that iOS gets the same treatment, even if at the moment they aren’t displayed in a size bigger than 512 by 512. Could we see a change in iOS 7?

For developers it’s a very minor change, but it could be the difference between your app getting rejected and getting accepted, so it’s worth bearing in mind.
