Magnolia Pictures has acquired the U.S. rights to “Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview,” and will open the film in select theaters on May 11, with DVD and Video on Demand releases in the summer.
The film, which was lensed by Robert Cringley in 1995 and features Apple honcho Jobs discussing a wide range of topics such as his early days, career battles and vision for the future, saw limited special screenings at Landmark theaters earlier.
Pieces of the interview had aired in a television special in the mid-90s, but most had been shelved, and assumed lost.
Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles said the film will be “enlightening and entertaining for anyone that’s interested in Jobs’ legacy… It’s a valuable piece of history that has thankfully been rescued from obscurity.”
Jobs passed away in October 2011 at the age of 56.
