RIM Unveils BlackBerry 10 With Compelling New Features

Research in Motion unveiled their latest mobile platform, BlackBerry 10, at the BlackBerry World 2012 convention in Florida this morning (via The Verge). The company also presented prototype BlackBerry handsets to all developers in attendance at the convention.

BlackBerry 10 represents a significant revamping of RIM’s mobile platform. The new platform is built on the Unix-like QNX platform that RIM acquired, and offers a number of promising features and enhancements, including real-time multitasking, a great new gesture-sensitive predictive keyboard, and a great new “Timeline” feature for their camera app, which snaps multiple pictures over a short time in case someone blinked.

While it appears that BlackBerry has really tried to put their act together with their latest mobile platform, it remains to be seen how BlackBerry 10 will perform in the market – and how well it can compete against Android, Windows Phone, and iOS!
