Review: Simply Declare – A Simple, Effective Travel App for iOS

I do a lot of traveling these days. Sometimes I find myself losing track of how much money I spend while on the road. Today I’m trying to solve that by trying out Simply Declare ($1.99, App Store link) – an app that helps you keep track of your travel purchases and currency conversions.

Overview

Simply Declare allows you to keep track of your travel purchases and converting them back into your home country’s currency. The app updates currencies in real time and automatically converts your purchase price. You can also set a limit on your spending and keeps track of all your purchases so that you won’t go over your budget.

Usage

Simply Declare has a simple and effective interface. For all the purchases you are doing, you can easily take a single photo of the invoice to keep track of it. And if you feel the need, you can als0 email a copy of the invoice to yourself along with the purchase information.

The budgeting feature is one of the best aspects of this app – and it’s especially good if you tend to spend too much money on trinkets and mementos. As well as the previously stated functions, you can also choose to add more travelers to your trip, and specify a budget per person.

Verdict

Rating: 4/5[rating:4]

Simply Declare is great in terms of simplicity. With its real time currency updating system, it truly is a great travel companion. You can easily add a purchase, take a photo of the invoice and BOOM, you’re done.

The only downside to this app is that you can only keep track of one trip at a time. It might sound logical, but sometimes I want to plan ahead, and maybe add a budget to my next 3 or 4 trips, even before I go abroad. To quote the developer: “If you like traveling, you shouldn’t wait longer; Simply Declare is just for you.”

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Real time currency converter
  • Take photos of your invoices

Cons

  • You can only keep track of one trip at a time
