High-Resolution Images Surface of Next-Gen iPhone Backplate, Frame, and Front Panel

Following previous images of a supposed backplate for Apple’s next iPhone, 9to5Mac has now received new high resolution images (click images to expand), revealing both black and white versions of the backplate and providing a much more detailed look at the parts.

In addition to the smaller dock connector and the relocated headphone jack shown in previous images, the new high-resolution images also seem to highlight additional design and technical details of the casing that previous images did not show, including an antenna band that is physically molded into the backplate. This suggests that Apple is using a Macbook-like unibody construction for the casing.

Other changes include additional space between the camera lens and the LED flash, as well as a secondary microphone located on the rear of the device – presumable to improve video quality while shooting video. The front-facing camera has also been moved above the earpiece.

The site also claims to have received photos of the next iPhone’s supposed front panel, which appears to be designed to fit a taller screen. This meshes with previous rumors suggesting that Apple will move to a 4-inch 1136 x 640 display for the next iPhone. Images of the frame which holds the home button and other components in place were also received.

While this doesn’t confirm the design for Apple’s next iPhone, it does back up many previous rumors, and if this is indeed the final design for the next iPhone, it seems we have a lot to look forward to.
