Rovio announced this morning that their Angry Birds franchise has hit one billion downloads – a figure which spans downloads across all platforms, including iOS, Android, Facebook, and the web.
Angry Birds games have now been downloaded more than a billion times – THANK YOU to all of our incredible fans! This is only the beginning of our story, keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up next from Rovio!
TheNextWeb also points out some interesting statistics about Angry Birds: “Angry Birds games had so far been played a total of 200,000 years, with 300 million minutes of playing time daily.”
The milestone is a huge achievement for Rovio – but it’s hardly surprising considering how mainstream their games have become. Their most recent release, Angry Birds Space, was recently noted as the fastest growing game of all time, hitting 50 million downloads in a record 35 days.
Of course, we’ve likely only seen the beginning of Rovio’s rise to glory, with the company teasing that new ventures are coming up soon. I dunno about you, but considering how well they have done with Angry Birds, I’m excited to see what they come up with next!
