New Apple Store-Within-a-Store Displays Appearing at Walmart

ifoAppleStore.com is reporting the first sighting of an Apple store-within-a-store concept at a Walmart store in Arkansas, 20 minutes away from the big box merchandiser’s home office.

This might be the prototype for a rumored expansion of displays such as these to Walmart’s Sam’s Club warehouse store division.

The displays feature tall, double-sided, back-lit graphics, a clean-looking wood table, live display products and under-table accessory storage with security glass. The new look is an update to previous Apple product displays within Walmart stores. Those have been small, and usually poorly maintained.

The displays were sighted in a store located in Lowell, a town of 7,500 residents located along I-540 in the northeastern part of the state.

Apple pioneered the store-within-a-store concept at CompUSA stores in 1997. The practice continues at Best Buy and Target stores.
