Microsoft Releases Updated Service Pack 2 for Office for Mac 2011

Following Microsoft’s release of Office 2011 for Mac Service Pack 2 earlier this month, many users began experiencing problems with Outlook database corruption. Although Microsoft offered a fix, they also opted to remove the service pack from their AutoUpdate tool.

Today Microsoft announced that they have released an update to Service Pack 2 (Microsoft Office 2011 14.2.1), which provides all the same patches and fixes as the original Service Pack 2 update, but also addresses the Outlook database corruption issue.

The download is available now through AutoUpdate, as well as for direct download from Microsoft’s website, and can be applied regardless of whether you installed the original Service Pack 2.

Is it a bad sign when you have to release a service pack for your Service Pack? Just sayin’…
