There has been plenty of anticipation surrounding an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1. But not to worry – there’s good news! Jailbreak hacker pod2g provided a progress report on the jailbreak yesterday, revealing that they have completed another crucial step, and that the jailbreak will likely be ready within 1-2 months.
ETA for 5.1 JB: no clue! We’re going to set pieces of the puzzle together this week. We could have issues… Could be 1 month maybe 2…

While it’s reassuring that they’ve made some significant progress, it’s also frustrating for many users that it could take up to another 2 months to jailbreak their devices. Not to worry, though – pod2g feels your pain, and has offered some encouragement:

The jailbreak is expected to work on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, as well as the new iPad, when it is finally released. As always, we’ll keep you updated on the lastest from the jailbreak scene as we hear it.
