Following AT&T’s decision to start unlocking off contract iPhones on April 8th, they have now quietly decided to also unlock deployed service members’ iPhones, even if they are still under contract, MacRumors reports.
While AT&T is required by federal law to suspend service without penalty for deployed service members, they are not required to unlock the phone, so this is a decision that they have taken on their own.
The unlock will make it possible for deployed military personel to use their iPhones abroad regardless of location.
If you are a deployed soldier, marine, airman or sailor, you can now contact AT&T about getting your iPhone unlocked, something which will be done free of charge.
