Following rumors that Apple is preparing to update their MacBooks, and that Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors will begin rolling out sometime this month, HowToArena reports that Apple is also preparing to release new models of the iMac in June or July.
A reliable tipster in Chinese supply chain told us that the company is currently ramping up production of thinner 15 inch version of MacBook Pros with same processors which are reportedly coming later this month. According to our source, Ivy Bridge equipped iMacs would be released in June-July time frame this year.
The report follows rumors that Apple’s next iMacs may be somewhat thinner than previous models, and may feature anti-reflective glass. The rumored release date of June or July falls in line with release rumors surrounding new MacBooks, and also falls in line with Apple’s announced “summer” release date for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
It’s almost certain that Apple’s coming lines of Macs will include Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors, and the fact that the timelines between the various Mac-related rumors seem to be lining up well suggests that this summer will be a huge month for Mac updates. I’d suggest that anyone planning to buy a new Mac hold off until then if possible.
