Have you ever wondered exactly what goes into making an iPad? With the increased media attention on Apple’s manufacturing, many are curious about what goes on behind the scenes at Foxconn – and now Marketplace reporter Rob Schmitz is on a quest to provide the answers.
After debunking Mike Daisey’s lies about working conditions at Foxconn, Schmitz was granted access to Foxconn’s Chinese manufacturing facility – the second reporter ever to get an inside look! Today Schmitz posted a video (via 9to5Mac) giving an inside look at how an iPad is built.
To me, it’s fascinating to see how well man and machine work together to product one of my all-time favorite electronic devices. It’s also interesting to note that assembly line workers switch positions every few days to avoid redundancy and boredom.
