Nielsen: iPhone Claims Over 40% of Recently Sold U.S. Smartphones

Nielsen today released their latest market research on smartphones, revealing that 43% of U.S. smartphone buyers chose an iPhone, compared to 48% who chose Android devices, with iOS increasingly narrowing the gap against Android in the smartphone market.

The report also shows that smartphones now nearly outnumber feature phones in the U.S. at 49.7% penetration, compared to just 36% at the same time last year. Long story short, smartphones are quickly winning over new customers as traditional mobile phone sales continue to dwindle.
