New Apple TV Teardown: Twice the Ram, Improved Wireless

iFixit has just posted their teardown of Apple’s latest Apple TV, revealing a single-core A5 processor, 512MB of RAM (double that of the 2nd-generation Apple TV), and 8GB of NAND flash storage. They also gave it a repairability score of 8 out of 10.

The teardown also found that the new Apple TV includes a second wireless antenna to improve range and signal strength. Most of the changes are likely due to the third-gen Apple TV’s support of full 1080p output, requiring the additional RAM and faster processor to ensure it can smoothly process video in full 1080p HD.
