Two contradictory reports have emerged regarding the availability of the new Angry Birds game for Windows Phone 7. Bloomberg at first reported that the app would not be coming to Microsoft’s mobile platform, however Rovio CEO Mikael Hed later released a statement dismissing the earlier report, claiming that they would go ahead in porting Angry Birds Space to Windows Phone.
“We’re the No. 1 app in the Windows Phone app store, but it’s a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application,” said Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer of the game’s maker.
“We are working towards getting Angry Birds Space to WP7,” Rovio Chief Executive Mikael Hed later told Reuters.
At this stage it remains unclear if this new Angry Birds title will be ported to WP7, so users of the latter will just have to sit tight and hope that it comes to their platform sooner rather than later. All Angry Birds games combined are expected to hit the one billion download mark in the coming months and reach two billion downloads before year’s end, which is staggering.
