Apple to Announce New $99 AppleCare+ for iPad 3 With Accident Protection

Apple introduced a new type of AppleCare policy with the iPhone 4S – AppleCare+, which includes the typical 2 years of warranty repairs and phone support, as well as 2 incidents of accidental damage replacement (at $50 per claim).

The question remains, however, whether Apple will introduce a similar new policy for the iPad. Standard AppleCare for iPad is currently available for $79, but that could be about to change. In fact, I think it’s extremely likely to change. And new reports from MacRumors and 9to5Mac seem to agree!

I dunno about you, but I think accident protection is crucial, especially for something like an iPad, and at $99 for two years of coverage, buying plans like these seems like a no-brainer to me. Hopefully the reports are true – we’ll know soon enough!
