Apple On Track to Sell 12 Million iPads (By the End of the Month!)

Apple’s new iPad is officially a hot item – and were’ not talking about the overhyped “heat issue” many are complaining of! According to UBS analyst Maynard Um (via Electronista), Apple is set to sell a whopping 12 million iPads by the end of the month – that’s just three weeks of sales, counting preorders!

These numbers would include the upcoming international launch in 25 additional countries set to take place on March 23rd, but impressively enough, the figure do not count sales of the iPad 2! To put that into perspective, many tablet manufacturers don’t sell 12 million tablets in an entire year, or perhaps ever, let alone in just a few weeks – and 3 million of those were sold in a single weekend!

I don’t care who you are, that’s impressive. And Um isn’t the only analyst who has caught iPad fever – as we previously reported, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster had some pretty strong projection for the iPad as well, suggesting that Apple’s iPad sales will continue to remain strong, and expects Apple to sell 66 million iPads this year, and a whopping 176 million in 2015 – that would make Apple’s iPad business larger than the entire PC market!
