T-Mobile Posts Huge Quarterly Loss, Says iPhone is to Blame

T-Mobile announced their holiday quarter 2011 earnings today, revealing a significant loss of over 700,000 subscribers, reports MacRumors. The carrier says the loss is largely due to the iPhone 4S. T-Mobile is the only one of the four major U.S. carriers to not carry the iPhone.

The carrier mentioned the iPhone 7 times in their release, revealing that they are more than a little sore that they are not yet an official carrier for the device:

For T-Mobile USA, the past year was characterized by significant challenges, particularly in the fourth quarter, following the market launch of the new Apple iPhone model by the three major national competitors in October. […] However, not carrying the iPhone led to a significant increase in contract deactivations in the fourth quarter of 2011. […] Sequentially, the decline in branded net contract customers was driven primarily by higher branded contract deactivations as a result of the launch of the iPhone 4S by three nationwide competitors in mid-October.

T-Mobile also announces that they are working hard to reposition themselves, and will begin more agressively rolling out their 4G LTE network, which is expected to be available beginning next year.
