Following yesterday’s release of Steve Jobs’ FBI file, which showed that Jobs had been considered for a “sensitive position” in the George H.W. Bush administration, the Associated Press (via 9to5Mac) reports that Steve Jobs actually held a position, serving as a voluntary member of the presidential export council.
The Commerce Department confirmed Thursday that Jobs did serve on the council during the first Bush administration. Export council members serve in an unpaid capacity and meet at least twice a year, advising the president on trade policy.
It’s pretty interesting to note that Steve Jobs actually worked with the White House, and even served on a fairly important council. Maybe if Jobs had been president, he could have solved America’s debt problems and built up an Apple-like cash reserve! Just sayin…
