It’s clear as day that Apple’s iOS devices are extremely popular, but are they outshining the Mac? New data from Analytics firm Chitika shows that iOS has now exceeded OS X in terms of overall web traffic, which seemingly doesn’t bode well for the Mac.
Chitika bases their data on browser user agents determined by access to hundreds of millions of online ad impressions. The study uses traffic numbers from August 2011 to the present.
It’s unclear whether people are using their iOS devices to browse more often that they use their Macs for the same purpose, or whether other factors may be at play as well.
This day has been coming for a long time, and it should come as no surprise. Still, it’s always interesting to see these things put into perspective.
