Apple is planning to launch their next-gen iPad at an event in New York next week, according to a tweet from CNBC. The iPad 3 will reportedly feature a quad-core processor, as well as support for high speed 4G LTE mobile data.

While this lines up well with current expectations for the timing of Apple’s media event, it seems strange that Apple would unveil the device in New York. Previous iPhone and iPad launches have taken place either at Moscone Center or Apple’s Town Hall meeting room in California.
Update: The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple, well-known for being very well connected to the goings-on at Apple, has put out a tweet stating that CNBC is dead wrong about the event being held in New York, but did not deny any of CNBC’s other claims.
@pdparticle Well @CNBC is wrong. It won’t be in NY 🙂
