The white MacBook is now officially gone, rest its soul, and Apple has now replaced its role by offering new education-exclusive 11″ and 13″ MacBook Airs with slightly scaled-down specs and a discounted price.
The available packages (as reported by 9to5Mac) are as follows (for a set of 5 machines):
Apple has been offering discounted sets of laptops to educational institutions for some while, helping to equip teachers or students with laptops, as well as a “Learning Lab” set of 10 or 20 MacBooks, iPads or iPhones with a custom charging cart. The Learning Lab packs have also been updated with the MacBook Air, and now also include an AirPort Extreme wireless router.
It’s sad to see the white MacBook go, but at least their replacing it with something even better! The new packages are available on Apple’s educational institution online store. Apple has not yet updated their education page with the new packages.
