The iPhone 4S marked a departure from Apple’s tradition of releasing a new iPhone at WWDC each summer, but a new report from Daiwa Securities suggests that may have been nothing more than an anomaly.
According to the report, Apple is expected to return to tradition and release the iPhone 5 at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June of this year, which is expected to occur sometime near the middle of the month.
The claim that the iPhone 5 will launch in the summer has cropped up before, and would fall in line with Apple’s general release cycle if you exclude the fall release of the iPhone 4S.
MacRumors points out that the events calendar for Moscone Center, where Apple typically holds their events, has been blocked off for a “corporate meeting” from the 10th to 15th, making that a likely date for Apple’s conference to take place.
