Tim Cook Reveals New Apple Employee Discounts – $500 Off Macs and $250 Off iPads!

In an effort to give back something to the people who work so hard to put Apple where it is today, Tim Cook has announced a new employee discount program on Mac and iPad purchases. Cook made the announcement during yesterday’s Town Hall staff meeting.

9to5Mac reports:

Cook announced that Apple employees will soon be given $500 discounts on purchases of new Macs and $250 discounts on purchases of a new iPad. The new discount program will officially kickoff at some point during June 2012. A major caveat is that Apple employees may only utilize the opportunity every three years and employees must have been working for Apple for at least 90 days.

The discount does not include Mac Mini models. Apple employees had previously received a 25% discount on Macs, so the $500 discount should be well received by Apple employees.

I can speak from experience as a former Apple Store employee, the staffs at the Apple Stores work hard, and in 99.9% of the cases they enjoy it. The work is fast paced, and can be exhausting. At the end of the day though, you’ve usually had at least one “transforming” customer experience where you can tell you’ve made a difference, even if it’s just in a small way. The new employee discounts will be appreciated by the staff, but it just adds to the long list of reasons why they work there.
