U.S. Wireless carrier T-Mobile will begin offering additional support to the more than one million unlocked iPhone users on their network, reports TmoNews. According to supposed internal documents, the new support offerings will include “common procedures, information about feature and specifications and other basic device questions.”
The additional support will certainly come in handy to unlocked iPhone users on their network. T-Mobile doesn’t yet officially offer the iPhone because most of their wireless towers do not support the necessary bands for 3G data on the device. The carrier is slowly transitioning its towers to
support the faster HSPA+ network, however, which would allow iPhone to operate at 3G speeds.
It’s unclear whether or not T-Mobile will be added as an official iPhone carrier anytime in the near future, but if T-Mobile’s claim that the next iPhone
will support their unique 3G band are true, and if the carrier continues to roll out HSPA+ support across their network, the prospects seems fairly likely.
