Sony to Launch Music Unlimited App on iPhones and iPads

Sony intend to launch an app for their music streaming service Music Unlimited on the iPhone and iPad sometime later this quarter, the Wall Street Journal reports. Sony’s decision to now offer the service on iOS devices shows their determination to get their service as much attention and users as possible.

Sony claim that Music Unlimited now has over one million subscribers, but that does include those who subscribed during trial periods. Users pay either $3.99 to access selected music channels or $9.99 to access all the 15 million songs on Sony’s library.

Tim Schaaff, president of the Sony Entertainment Network, said that “You can be a Sony customer, but not every product you own has to be a Sony.” He also alluded to Apple’s similar strategy of making iTunes available on Windows.
