Yesterday, we announced that a new Siri competitor has hit the iTunes store. Going by the name of Evi, the voice recognition app performs much the same functions as Siri and offers iPhone 3GS and 4 users a chance to try voice recognition. Shortly after launch, however, its servers were having trouble coping with the incredible demand for the app.
I myself downloaded the app ten minutes ago and still have not managed to get one answer from it, which shows just how overloaded the servers are. It will be interesting to see if it will be a strong competitor to Siri, but for the moment, its launch is proving a bit of a failure.
However will we have to wait see how they recover and how quickly they do so. I can’t wait to sure it properly, but for now, it’s proving slightly frustrating. The developers released a statement regarding the issues, so hopefully they should be fixed soon.
