Even with a new software update in February, which added the much needed email and other important features to the Playbook, analysts still claim that it is suffering severe technical issues and that the upgrade is unlikely to considerably improve sales, the New York Times reports.
Mike Abramsky, an analyst from RBC Capital Markets, stated that there were “obviously some technical problems integrating this that they weren’t able to solve,” and that “They’re being very disorganized and uncommunicative about it.”
The Playbook not having email capabilities when it came out was met with great surprise, especially with RIM having engineered email on the Blackberry, a much smaller device. Another analyst however, Bill Kreher, claimed that “the company is having big difficulty porting native e-mail to the BlackBerry 10 O.S.,” and that “RIM has had a poor track record in recent history in delivering their products.”
