While a recent job listing suggested that Xbox Live content may be coming to iOS, a Microsoft spokesman has has just made things much more exciting, seemingly confirming that the company will soon bring the Xbox Live experience to other mobile platforms.
Forbes quotes the unnamed Microsoft spokesman:
While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.
Microsoft has already launched an Xbox Live companion app for iOS, as well as a Kinectimals app, but the company will likely launch an even more in depth gaming experience, likely porting Xbox Live games currently available on Windows Phone to iOS and Android.
It’s pretty unsurprising in reality. Microsoft is well aware that there’s a huge bundle of money involved in selling iOS and Android apps, and their current Xbox Live companion apps have performed quite well on the App Store.
While it’s not clear exactly when Microsoft is planning to unveil their new mobile offerings, by guess is that it will be sooner rather than later. Halo for iPhone, anyone? I wish.
