How To: Emailing A Website or Webpage
Have you ever come across a website or webpage that you just have to email to someone. Today we will take a look at the options you have available.
In this example I will be using Mail and Safari which are both free applications which come with every Apple Macintosh computer.
The first way this can be done is by simply using copy and paste. Highlight the website address from the address bar and copy by pressing Command-C. Go to Mail and when composing a new message simply paste by pressing Command-V the website address into the body of the message where most appropriate. Please note this method will not create a clickable hyperlink and will look like this:
You can however create a hyperlink using the copy and paste method by simply clicking the following or Command-K on your keyboard:
Upon doing this you will see the following:
Simply paste the website address into the popup box and click OK. Your result will then look like this:
Another option is to ‘Mail Contents Of This Page’ which can be found in the File drop down menu within Safari, (you can also press Command-I to achieve the same result), and the option looks like this:
Upon doing this the Mail application will launch and will open a new email to compose with the content of the website within. It will look like this:
You will notice the title of the website or page will become the subject title of your email. Of course, you can change this and you can also add your own text into the main body of the email prior to sending.
All links are also active allowing the receiver of your email to click through to other areas of the site you have sent to them directly from the email.
The third option you can use to send someone a website or webpage link is to use Shift-Command-I or click the File menu within Safari and proceed down to ‘Mail Link To This Page’ like this:
Upon selecting this method Mail will again open and launch the following window allowing you to write and send an email with the exact link to the website you were looking at in Safari. It will also present in the email as a hyperlink unlike that of a simple copy and paste as shown in the first example.
