iAd has failed to take off, due partly to Apple’s high pricing and demands for creative control. The platform was launched in July 2010, shortly following Apple’s acquisition of mobile ad firm Quattro Wireless
Apple’s iAd program was previously led by Quattro founder and CEO Andy Miller, but Miller left Apple in September 2011 in favor of a position in venture capital. iAd has been overseen by Eddy Cue on the meantime, who is also responsible for several other areas, including the iTunes Store, the App Store, iBookstore, and iCloud.
