Apple has appointed John Browett to succeed Ron Johnson as Senior Vice President of Retail at the company, the BBC reports. Browett, who is the current CEO of Dixons, the large chain of consumer electronics stores in the UK, will officially take over his new position in April.
Dixons currently owns Currys and PC World, but has been struggling, with losses over the past few years. What’s important, however (and likely part of what caught Apple’s eye), is that a significant focus had been put on improving customer service and refitting the stores.
“Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we’ve met,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his incredible retail experience to Apple.”
Browett had been CEO of Tesco.com before joining Dixons.
