While T-Mobile has been singing the iPhone blues, and mobile networks in general have been jumping at the chance to carry Apple’s iPhone, U.S. Cellular tells a different story.
U.S. Cellular CEO Ted Carlson told attendants at a UBS analyst conference that they had been offered the chance to carry the iPhone, but turned it down, and are instead waiting for Apple to release a more “cutting edge” (by which they mean LTE 4G support) device before they’ll be “willing to take the risk.”
Really, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Every network that has so far accepted the chance to carry the iPhone has seen record-breaking sales, and most phones that currently support LTE get abysmal battery life. Is record-breaking sales and a battery life of more than a few hours really less “cutting edge” than the alternative?
