Untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak Already Complete, Awaiting Public Release

According to new blog posts written by notable iOS hacker Pod2G, the Chronic Dev Team has now finished coding for an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak on all A4-powered devices. As such, a public release will likely occur in the near future.

The exploit includes all of Apple’s recent iOS devices except for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, which are powered by Apple’s newer A5 processor, although an exploit for the newer hardware may be coming in the near future as well.

iPad 1 5.0.1 untethered code is done, testing tomorrow with a friend’s device. Just to let you know my progress in real time. iPhone 3GS 5.0.1 untethered code is done. Testing tomorrow also! iPod 4G 5.0.1 untethered too ! ). Apple TV 2 4.43 untethered done also. Will be able to test in some days.

For those of you dying to have a proper jailbreak on your iOS 5 devices, this should come as very welcome news. As always, we’ll keep you posted, and let you know as soon as we hear of a public release.
