After resurrecting and reshaping the tablet industry when it was released just under two years ago, the iPad continues to make waves in the mobile industry, and eating into other platforms as if they’re delicious pieces of cake.
Forbes reports on a recent survey of 2500 individuals conducted by Maritz Research. Each responded was asked which of a list of 14 tablets they would purchase if they were planning on purchasing a tablet. The result was an overwhelming preference among respondents that the iPad would be their tablet of choice.
The survey reveals that over 53% of self-identifying Blackberry users would purchase an iPad if they were buying a tablet (versus 12% for the Kindle Fire and 11% for the Samsung Galaxy Tab).
Just as interesting is that Android users showed similar favor for the iPad, with 41% of those using Android smartphones responding that the iPad would be their tablet of choice, with 19% favoring the Galaxy Tab and 15% favoring the Kindle Fire.
In addition, 40% of Windows Phone users said they would choose the iPad. And unsurprisingly, a whopping 77% of iPhone owners said they’d choose the iPad, with only 8% favoring the Kindle Fire, and 5% favoring the Galaxy Tab.
Any way you shake it, the iPad is making serious waves, and the fact that it’s breaking up the brand loyalty of smartphone owners makes it even more significant.
