Mozilla has released version 9 of their popular Firefox browser, including speed enhancements, improved theme integration, and support for two-finger swiping in OS X Lion, as well as bug fixes and stability improvements.
The rollout is a continuation of Mozilla’s extremely rapid release cycle (Firefox 8 was released just over a month ago) in order to match Google’s development pace for Chrome, and plans to continue releasing a new version every six weeks.
What’s most notable about the update, however, is ‘Type Inference,’ a feature that Mozilla says can boost JavaScript performance by up to 30%. The browser also includes a new look and feel designed to look more at home with Mac OS X Lion.
Firefox 9 is available now for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
