Following the release of the official XBox Live app for iOS, Microsoft has now released their first ever iOS game: Kinectimals ($2.99, App Store link) – a companion to the title of the same name for XBox Kinect.
Microsoft evangelist Major Nelson tweeted the news earlier today, which marks the second significant XBox-related app release for the iOS platform (which Microsoft, needless to say, is competing with through Windows Phone).
This irresistible mobile experience gives you the chance to use your phone to visit the island of Lemuria and play with, care for and fall in love with your very own cub. Bring your pet with you wherever you go! If you’ve already experienced Kinectimals on Kinect for Xbox 360, your phone becomes the key to unlocking five new cubs on your console.
Kinectimals for iOS is a port of the existing Windows Phone 7 app, and is available now for $3 as a universal app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch ($2.99, App Store link).
Personally, I’m excited that Microsoft is going cross-platform with their XBox 360 companions – but does this suggest they’re less than optimistic about the future of the Windows Phone platform?
