Latest iOS 5.0.1 Build Fixes iPhone 4S ‘No Sim Card’ Errors

Latest iOS 5.0.1 Build Fixes iPhone 4S ‘No Sim Card’ Errors

Following yesterday’s report that Apple had released a new slightly tweaked version of iOS 5.0.1, new information has now surfaced, showing that the update was intended to fix ‘No Sim Card’ issues on the iPhone 4S, and is being selectively provided by Apple to customers seeking support for that issue.

A new support document issued by Apple discusses the ‘No Sim Card’ error, and advises users to restore their iPhone 4S through iTunes, and then restore from the backup, after which Apple says their device should report a version number of 5.0.1 (9A406) – the same build found and reported yesterday.

The restore process would presumably cause iTunes to download the updated version of iOS 5.0.1. Since the issue required only minor changes, and was affecting only a small number of users, it made more sense for Apple to revise the 5.0.1 update rather than issue a new 5.0.2 update.

While the build is intended to address the “No Sim Card” issue, MacRumors reports that it doesn’t appear to be solving the problem for all users.
