As Amazon’s Kindle fire tablet drops into user’s hands, some are reporting problems with slow data speeds, and inability to connect to Wi-Fi. Forums on the retailer’s site include a long list of posts under the heading of: “Kindle Fire cannot connect to Internet”.
Although the tablets have just begun to ship, the company has already released a software update. The release brings new options for magazines, children’s books, e-mail access and Facebook integration.
The v6.1 release notes do not mention any bug fixes, though users have reported mixed results by manually installing the update via USB. Some claim the update resolves their connection problems, while others are still reporting problems running the latest firmware.
Amazon has not as of yet publicly acknowledged any problems with Kindle Fire Wi-Fi connectivity.
