According to the latest research from Millennial Media, Android actually lost share to the iPhone in November, thanks largely to strong continued sales of the iPhone 4S.
Strangely, even RIM, the Blackberry maker who seems to be more or less doomed, has gained over Android. A combination of iOS and Blackberry devices have decreased Android’s ad share to exactly 50%, while iOS and Blackberry rose to 30 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
Android’s growth has been seemingly unstoppable in the past few months, which makes it all the more significant that the platform seems to be losing its momentum during the critical holiday shopping season.
Has the iPhone 4S shattered Android’s growth pattern? Considering that iOS has outgrown Android in ad share for the last two months straight (Millennial also reported similar findings in October), I’m inclined to say yes.
